Dean's OfficeTraffic Alert for First Week of SchoolThe City of San Jose is finalizing a traffic project on Moorpark between Saratoga and Williams that will have an impact on morning "drop off" for Archbishop Mitty families. The project includes not only a resurfaced Moorpark Avenue but additionally new striping that will reduce traffic to one lane in each direction starting from Saratoga all the way through Lawrence Expressway. A bike lane has also been added along the same stretch and will split the right turn lane and the through lane. The City is aiming to "enhance the safety for all users on Moorpark by reducing potential conflicts between vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists." Parents and students are cautioned to note these changes and plan both drop off and pick up accordingly as this may cause delays. Additionally, families are asked to please pay special attention to bicyclists in the new lane as you cross over to turn right onto Mitty Avenue from Moorpark.  Student Drop Off and Pick Up Getting to and from school can be tricky at times. Consider the following suggestions as we start the new school year to make your drive less frustrating. • Drop off and pick up students at off-peak times. Think about picking up your son or daughter at 3:00 p.m. instead of 2:35 p.m. if possible. Likewise, consider dropping them off before 7:30 a.m. each day so you don't have to fight the traffic. • Find a location that works best for you. Agree on a set pick-up location before school to avoid confusion once you're in the car. • Pull all the way up on the curbs to allow more cars to drop off behind you. • Refrain from doing U-turns on Mitty Avenue in order to keep traffic flow moving and our children safe. • Do not drop off in the Queen of Apostles parking lot unless a sibling attends that school. • Sudden change in plans? Agree to using email to communicate with your student so that they can adjust to any changes before school ends for the day. |
Registrar's OfficeSchedulesAll students will receive a copy of their schedules in homeroom the first day of classes on Wednesday, August 19th. Homeroom locations will be posted throughout campus. Student Schedule Change Deadline September 2nd The final deadline for students to make changes to their schedules is Wednesday, September 2nd. All student schedules will be finalized at that time. Students should meet with their counselors to discuss course or level changes. Counselors will explain the process for requesting changes. |

If you are the parent of an incoming freshman or transfer student and missed the opportunity to submit the order form with payment, you can have your student bring in the completed form along with payment this week, beginning on Wednesday. Parent Pledge Annual CampaignAnnual parent pledge has begun. No other gift program more directly benefits your student. The funds raised go directly to the operating budget to fund enhanced academic and extracurricular programs for your child and other Monarchs. Campus MinistryRetreat Sign-upOnline registration for all Campus Ministry retreats continues. All students are encouraged to participate and register as early as possible, as placements fill quickly. Please go to the Archbishop Mitty Campus Ministry page for retreat dates and registration. Cornerstone: Join Today! Cornerstone is a youth ministry program for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors that combines both youth group faith experiences and Christian Service in a supportive community. Once a week the group will meet and either go to a service location in the San Jose area to complete Christian service or they will stay on campus to participate in a youth group gathering. Youth group gatherings will be a mixture of prayer, fun community building activities, small group sharing, and discussion of important issues. There is a program in the fall and a second program in the spring. Applications for the Fall 2015 program are now available online and will close on midnight Wednesday, September 2nd. If you have had an account with myschoolbucks.com in the past, your log-in and password will be valid this year as well, and you only need one account per family. All your student will need is his/her ID card, distributed the first few days of school. The student ID will be synced with your account. Mock TrialInformational Meeting & Attorney TryoutsFor all of those students who love courtroom dramas, who want to learn more about legal arguments, or who enjoy learning about Federal and State Superior Court cases, please consider trying out to be a Mock Trial attorney. The team is looking for a number of attorneys for the 2015-2016 competition season. Interested students must attend one of two informational meetings on either Wednesday, August 26th, at 2:45 p.m. or Thursday, August 27th, at 7:15 a.m. in Room 504. Back to School Night, Thursday, September 3rd, 2015, 6:30 p.m.Back to School Night for parents is scheduled for Thursday evening, September 3rd, at 6:30 p.m. The evening is structured as a mini-schedule of your student's day. The night will begin with a short presentation in the Fien Gymnasium promptly at 6:30 p.m. You will then go to your student's homeroom and pick up your student's schedule of classes. Following this, you will spend ten minutes in each of your student's classes. Members of the administration and counseling staff will be available all evening in the Aymar Events Center. Please note: Traffic into the campus will be heavy; come early to find a parking space. |
AMPAAMPA Tailgate BBQ (Food Tickets Only)Please plan to join us for our annual AMPA tailgate BBQ on Friday, September 4, 2015, at Foothill College. The tailgate runs from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Tickets are $10.00 per person. Tailgaters will have a choice of burger or grilled chicken, plus chili, potato salad, and drink. (Meat choices are on a first come first served basis). This event is open to all Archbishop Mitty students, families, and friends. To purchase tickets for the BBQ go to the Archbishop Mitty web page and click on Parents. Then go to AMPA "Purchase AMPA Events" where you can purchase your food tickets or do so by clicking here. UPLIFT Support Group Uplift is a new Campus Ministry group that Archbishop Mitty will be starting in the fall of 2015. This group will be dedicated to students whose parents are going through (or have previously gone through) cancer treatment or those who have lost a parent to cancer. |
